2006
Handmade Expressions is born!
Manish travels to rural India to seek out artisan communities. Ruchi joins the business, and she and Manish set up their first HQ and warehouse (aka their Austin apartment and garage). We have our first trade show in San Francisco.
2007
We hire our first employee, and our first printed catalog drops
2008
HME steps into the digital age with its first website
We become members of the Fair Trade Federation, and have our first order with Pottery Barn!
2009
We move out of the apartment office
and into our first real office space and warehouse
2010
We’re featured in Entrepreneur magazine
and hit our first million in sales!
2013
HME becomes Matr Boomie
a name which means "motherland" in Hindi, and reflects the deep ties the company has to Manish and Ruchi's home.
2015
Our B2C website is born!
2016
We do our first retailer trip
giving some of our customers a chance to meet the artisans and see how our products are made
2019
Matr Boomie goes live on QVC!
2020
We purchase and move into a new office space/warehouse, giving it a complete redesign
2022
We launch our first line of candles, Kandu,
giving us the ability to create opportunity for our community here in Austin
2024
Longtime partner Alltrue launches an artisan box
filled with exclusively MB products!
2025
We open our first permanent showroom at AmericasMart Atlanta!
2026
