20 Years of Community Impact

This year marks a significant milestone for us: 20 years of community impact. Two decades ago, we set out to prove that global fair trade and local grassroots support could go hand in hand. Today, that mission is stronger than ever. From rolling up our sleeves at local therapeutic farms to sorting donations for our unhoused neighbors, every one of our quarterly volunteer days tells a story of connection.

For twenty years, Matr Boomie has been more than a brand, it has been a movement toward a more playful, kind, compassionate, and connected world.

Cultivating Hope: Simple Promise Farms

Our most recent volunteer day took us just outside Austin to Elgin, Texas, where we spent a beautiful day at Simple Promise Farms. This mission-based non-profit empowers individuals recovering from addiction through therapeutic farming and animal rescue. The Matr Boomie crew got to work harvesting fresh carrots, peeling onions, and chopping cucumbers for pickling. It was a beautiful day spent helping maintain an environment that provides true purpose and meaningful work.

Uplifting Neighbors: Sunrise Navigation Center

Our team spent a morning at Sunrise Navigation Center, the largest provider of homeless services in Travis County. We took over their clothing donation store, sorting through three massive days' worth of apparel in a single afternoon, and organized supplies for their clients' beloved pets, ensuring no one—two-legged or four went hungry.

Heavy Lifting: Healing with Horses Ranch

Our commitment to local service brought us to Healing with Horses Ranch, a therapeutic riding center for veterans, first responders, and students facing physical and emotional challenges. To help prepare for their annual fundraiser, our team power-washed facilities, raked out riding arenas, and filled dozens of hay bags for their hard-working therapy horses.

Restoring the Green: Zilker Park

Austin is famous for its beautiful green spaces. To give back to the environment, our team paired up to clean up Zilker Park and the trails along Lady Bird Lake. Armed with trash grabbers, we cleared away litter to ensure the park remained a safe, beautiful sanctuary for both local residents and native Texas wildlife.

Local Roots: KANDU, Austin-Made Candles

The passion for local impact is woven directly into the products we create. Our Kandu candles are hand-poured right here in Austin by women from at-risk communities. We use 100% soy wax and natural cotton wicks, housed in reusable packaging, ensuring we provide fair wages and a safe space to rebuild lives right in our own backyard.

Thank you for being part of this movement for 20 years. Here’s to many more years of "All One. All Kin."
