Empowering Women Through the Art of Beading

We recently held a workshop for 14 women in North India, where they learned the art of beading ornaments, brooches, and jewelry. Beaded accessories are very popular in today’s handcrafted goods market.

By teaching these women how to create beautiful, on-trend beaded items, we provided them with skills that are both creative and in-demand in the current job market. This new skill set offers attendees the opportunity to be a part of a growing industry and earn a steady income.

Historically, many women in this region have faced barriers in accessing education, employment, and financial freedom. For many of these women, this was their first time stepping out of their home and entering the workforce. This is a chance to break the cycle of poverty and gender inequality. Earning a living is their first step toward gaining independence and finding their voice in the community.

This workshop was just one example of how skills training, education, and empowerment can change lives. We continue to host education opportunities for artisans in India, and to grow our efforts in uplifting underserved communities.

Beading is an important traditional Indian craft, and we continuously find ways to utilize beadwork within our product designs. We would like to take a moment to highlight the incredible beadwork of our artisan partners.

We are proud to share our collection of handcrafted fair trade accessories. Current favorites include our beaded brooches, as well as our ornaments. Explore our beaded product selection and support fair trade artisans.
