This ethically sourced, square mango wood pivot box was inspired by traditional shapes of antique Indian spice boxes. The hand engraved designs, and white rub finish give the box the feel of an heirloom collected in the bustling spice markets of Delhi or Calcutta. Box lid pivots open with brass hardware, securely closes with magnet, and has five compartments inside to store knick-knacks and jewelry.

Each artisan uses hand tools to skillfully carve blocks of sustainably harvested wood into fine treasures. This art form requires mastery to create the intricate carving, filigree, and inlay work. Many of the patterns are deeply influenced by cultural motifs from Muslim dynasties that ruled the region centuries ago. Artisans finish and detail each item with natural wax and non-toxic paints.
Our woodcraft partner artisans belong to collectives in the region that provide basic services and development solutions to enable self-sufficiency, including healthcare and education. Literacy rates and income opportunities are quite limited in the area, so woodcraft production is vital for community livelihoods. Most woodcraft artisans are men and some women work in finishing and production assembly. Our main focus for their continued development is sustainable income generation, skills development and raw material allocation.

We want you to be completely satisfied with our products. However, if you are dissatisfied with our product for any reason, you may make a return within 15 days of receipt of item(s). Products must be returned in their original condition with product tag, and without retail price stickers. For returns related to damaged or defective items, MATR BOOMIE will incur shipping costs for domestic customers. Any shipping costs on returns made for other reasons will be at the expense of the customer. For quality issues arising after customer purchase and use, please contact us within 30 days of customer purchase or 60 days of your invoice. We will request a photo image of any damaged or defective items and can send replacements or issue a credit for the damages after review.
